LUCKNOW: A group of passengers, incensed over locked doors of Mumbai bound Antyodaya express, vandalised the coach on Tuesday night at Basti railway station.
A video of the incident circulating on social media showed one individual with heavy stone shatter the window of the entry door, whilst others dismantled the iron bar grill of the windowpane to gain entry into the coach through the window.

RPF Basti has registered an FIR under railway act 145 against unidentified passengers responsible for the vandalism in coach of 15101 Chhapra-Mumbai Antyodaya Express.
According to official sources, “Since the train was exceedingly overcrowded, the passengers inside had secured the coach from within to prevent additional boardings. This action infuriated passengers waiting to board the train at Basti railway station.
Subsequently, a youth shattered the glass panel of the entry door, whilst several others damaged the iron grill of the window.
A subsequent video from the same night at Mankapur railway station depicts an RPF constable endeavouring to assist an elderly woman to board the substantially overcrowded Mumbai-bound train.
The RPF Lucknow control had notified Mankapur RPF regarding the vandalism that had transpired at Basti railway station.
No arrests have been made thus far. The incident occurred late Tuesday night at approximately 10.30 pm.
Chandra Mohan Mishra, the senior divisional security commissioner of Northeastern railway said, “We have the footage of the vandalism, and our teams are attempting to establish the identity of the men involved in the matter.”
