Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar

NEW DELHI: India’s batting star Virat Kohli might be enduring a lean patch with the bat, but all eyes will once again be on him when India take on Australia in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) starting December 26.
Kohli, who already boasts a plethora of records, is on the brink of surpassing Sachin Tendulkar to become India’s leading Test run-scorer against Australia at the iconic MCG.
Kohli has amassed 316 runs in 3 Tests (6 innings) at an impressive average of 52.57 at the venue. He needs just 133 more runs to overtake Tendulkar’s tally of 449 runs.
Currently sitting third on the list, Kohli has a golden opportunity to climb to the top.

Former opener Virender Sehwag occupies fourth place with 280 runs in just 2 Tests.
While Kohli has managed only 126 runs in 3 Tests on this tour at an average of 31.50, a strong performance at the MCG could not only end his slump but also cement his place as India’s best at the historic ground.
