‘ has performed average at the box office, in this one week run. The film having that mass appeal, could have done a lot better, however, it hasn’t made the kind of impact it should have. The trade predicts that it’s perhaps due to the title of the film, which made people think it’s an
adult movie
which the
family audience
cannot watch together at a theatre.
That’s not the case though.
The film had a decent weekend over Dussehra, though, there was no benefit from the holiday. And since Monday, it kept seeing a gradual dip in the numbers. On Thursday, which is day 7, the movie has garnered Rs 1.75 crore. Thus, the total of the film in 7 days now stands at Rs 26.95 crore according to Sacnilk. Even during the night shows, the occupancy was of around 11 percent.
While it has done better than ‘Jigra’, there was still scope for it to get in more footfalls and numbers, especially in the Gujarat area. The impact of the movie should have been more, also because the music had got decent attention from the audience before release. The song ‘Mere Mehboob’ especially was the talk of the town and is being played on reels on social media all over.
Though, the song’s picturisation and choreography had not gone down well with people and that also may have repulsed family audiences from the theatres. Meanwhile, there are some re-releases this Friday – ‘Singham’ and ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ so, it would be interesting to see if ‘Jigra’ and ‘Vicky Vidya…’ do see any growth in numbers over the second weekend.
