“Stronger together. Stronger united. Thank you Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a historic G20 and the Indian people for such a warm welcome,” British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wrote on X (formerly Twitter) as he left for the UK on the last day of the G20 Summit.

The youngest UK PM in over 200 years is also a fitness freak at heart. However, there is a cheat drink in his diet.


​Sunak’s cheat drink​

In a 2021 podcast, the UK PM revealed that his cheat drink is Mexican Coke – Coca-Cola produced in and imported from Mexico.


​Why is it special?​

“It’s special Coke,” Sunak explained on the podcast. “It’s the only place in the world where Coke is made with cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup.”


​What is high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS)?​

High-fructose corn syrup, also known as glucose–fructose, is a sweetener made from corn starch.


​Health risks of HFCS​

Researchers have shown associations between drinking beverages sweetened with HFCS can increase blood pressure and some risk factors for heart disease.
