The Supreme Court intends to set up a committee to resolve farmers’ issues at the Shambhu border. The Punjab and Haryana governments have been asked to submit relevant issues for the committee’s consideration. A hearing is scheduled for September 2, and the states are urged to engage with farmers to remove tractors and trolleys from the highway.

Supreme Court
on Thursday said it would soon constitute a multi-member committee to amicably resolve the grievances of farmers “for all times”.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta and Ujjal Bhuyan posted the case for hearing to Sep 2 and asked the two states to submit a list of tentative issues concerning farmers that would be examined by the committee, adding that the panel will have a “wider mandate” to deal with longstanding issues.
It asked both govts to keep engaging with the protesting farmers and persuade them to remove their tractors and trolleys from the highway.
