JAMMU: J&K State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Friday attached the property of a fugitive wanted in a

narco-terror

case in

Poonch

district.
“The property (land) is situated at Dharmsal, Khari under Khasra no. 37 measuring 18 marlas and under Khasra no. 38 measuring 11 marlas,” said an SIA spokesperson, adding: “Around 12pm, an SIA team along with local police reached the house of the accused, Mohd Liyaqat, a resident of Khari, and began the process of attaching the property.

The operation was conducted in presence of Tehsildar Haveli Azhar Majid.”
The attachment was made as per CrPC section 83, based on an FIR registered against the accused at Poonch police station under relevant sections of the Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, NDPS Act and UAPA. “The seizure of Liyaqat’s property is a crucial move in the ongoing battle against narco-terrorism in the region,” the spokesperson added.
On May 1, J&K Police had issued a proclamation notice against Liyaqat and another person — both accused of multiple offences including under UAPA — in Poonch, asking them to appear in court within the next 30 days or face action under CrPC sec 83.
