in Jharkhand’s

immolated herself Monday after heated arguments with NHAI officials who asked her to vacate the building saying it had become an obstacle in an expansion project.
A case for compensation for school land is pending with Jharkhand HC amid a dispute between two factions of Anand Marg School management over who should get the amount.
District officials clarified that NHAI officials did not go to the school to demolish it, but made a request to vacate it.
Following the arguments with NHAI team on the campus, Uddhat Annadahit Vadini entered the school kitchen, poured kerosene oil and set herself on fire. She suffered 80% burns.
In protest, hundreds of villagers and Vadini’s supporters blocked the highway and demanded action against NHAI officials and sought compensation for the kin of the deceased. They relented after the local authorities promised a thorough investigation.
