Shivaji Satam recently shared a touching moment with Sanjay Dutt during a difficult time in Dutt’s life. Amid court hearings related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts, Dutt confided in Satam. Although acquitted of bombing charges, he was sentenced to six years in prison in 2007 for illegal weapon possession.
In a recent interview with Friday Talkies, Shivaji recounted a memorable film shoot featuring Dutt’s cameo.

He mentioned that the actor had to attend court every day during the filming. In the movie, Shivaji portrayed a father whose daughter had a dying wish to see Sanjay Dutt. Despite the late hours, Dutt arrived on set at 2 AM after his court hearings to shoot the scene. Shivaji also reflected on their collaboration in

Vaastav

, noting that even then, Sanju remained humble and did not carry himself like a typical star.

While working on Vaastav, a significant film in Satam’s career, Sanjay confided in him about his feelings of helplessness regarding his legal troubles. Dutt insisted that the bag of weapons found in his possession had been planted. Shivaji reflected on their conversations, recalling how Dutt expressed his vulnerability, saying he felt trapped by the situation. Shivaji reassured him, encouraging him to remain himself. Throughout their collaboration on four to five films, he found Dutt to be a wonderful and big-hearted individual.

One memorable moment for Shivaji Satam was when Sanjay Dutt invited him and a few friends over for lunch. During the gathering, Shivaji noticed Dutt using one of the latest mobile phones available at the time and complimented him on it. After the meal, Dutt surprised Shivaji by removing his SIM card and handing him the phone, saying he had another one and encouraging Shivaji to keep this one. This gesture highlighted Dutt’s generous nature and left a lasting impression on Shivaji.
Sanjay Dutt debuted in the film industry in 1981 with Rocky. He later became known for his versatility, starring in notable films such as Naam,

Saajan

,

, and the critically acclaimed Vaastav.
