He also pointed out that the Telugu industry treats its heroes as larger-than-life figures, which he believes is essential for successful commercial cinema. “They are grounded in our own culture,” he said. “Baahubali is an example; it is kind of mythological and historical. Plus, they treat their heroes like gods, which, in a sense, is what
commercial cinema
should be.”
Saif appreciated the way films are shot in the South Indian film industry, calling it “phenomenal”. He highlighted how, despite being in the same country, the industry has a distinct style and language, but notes that once the camera starts rolling, it becomes a universal language. He specifically mentioned working with director
Koratala Siva
and finding it thrilling to learn and adapt to the different pace and style of filmmaking in the South. “Koratala Siva (Devaraa director) said he would help me and cue me, and I took it quite quickly,” he stated.
The ‘Race’ actor further added that Telugu industry is making high-quality films that are successful and well-received. He expressed his admiration for the way Telugu heroes are treated and cared for, and suggested that if he can master the Telugu language, it could open up new opportunities for him as an actor.
