Published:

Riteish Deshmukh who’s been in the industry for over 20 years now, is largely known for his comic timing and entertaining cinema. Not to mention, he got a lot of accolades recently when he made his debut as a director with ‘Ved’, apart from the fact that people loved to see him and Genelia Deshmukh on screen after many years. However, do you know that the actor has been subjected to immense

criticism

.

During a conversation with ETimes, while promoting his latest release ‘

Kakuda

‘, Rtieish shared a funny story.
When asked about the worse piece of advice or critism ever, the actor said, “Riteish is as wooden as a wooden bench in the film.” He further added, “There was a film I did called ‘

Naach

‘. For that film, for the last scene of the film, that critic had written, ‘Riteish Deshmukh is as irritating as a flickering tubelight’.”
Riteish didn’t understand it, so he called his director Ram Gopal Verma. Riteish mimicked RGV and said, “I remember calling up Ramu and he said, ‘Riteish, did you read the review? The critic said you were irritating him like a flickering tubelight. You know what it means? I spoke to the critic and he said, every time you said something, you were blinking so it was irritating him.'”

The ‘Ek Villain’ actor told him, it’s human to blink. “But it taught me. Every time I act, I try not to blink because blinking while acting in an emotional scene disconnects the audience. Every criticism will teach you something, however offended you might be. As long as people don’t get personal, people can criticise me as much as they want as I will learn from it,” said the actor.
For those not in the know, ‘Naach’ starred

Abhishek Bachchan

and Antara Mali along with Riteish.
