Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has sparked buzz on social media with his comments about the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
RGV has been taking to his social media handles to share his thoughts about the ongoing case around the murder of politician
Baba Siddiqui
and the alleged involvement of Bishnoi’s gang. Known for his unconventional views, the filmmaker surprised many when he called the incarcerated gangster ‘good looking’.
Varma shared a photo of Bishnoi on his X handle and wrote in the caption, “If a film is based on the BIGGEST GANGSTER, no filmmaker will cast a guy who looks like DAWOOD IBRAHIM or
CHOTA RAJAN
.
But here, I don’t know a single FILM STAR who is more GOOD LOOKING than B.”
The post attracted varied responses from users, with some suggesting Bollywood stars who could potentially portray Bishnoi. One comment read, “Let him do his own role. I hope you direct his biography.”
Another remarked, “If Bishnoi’s life ever makes it to the big screen, they’ll probably go for someone way more glamorous, making it a ‘Bollywood’ version in every sense.”
A third suggested, “Casting Salman Khan as Lawrence will be the biggest irony.”
Another suggested that the director title the movie ‘B Company’, while another suggested that a movie on this subject would guarantee him a box office hit.
In a post on Monday, Varma shared his eagerness for Salman Khan to give the gangster a “SUPER COUNTER THREAT” saying, “otherwise, it will look like a COWARDICE of the TIGER STAR. S K owes it to his fans to rise up as the BIGGER SUPER HERO in comparison to B.”
The filmmaker also shared his thoughts on recent news linking the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui to the Bishnoi gang, describing it as a storyline straight out of a movie. He elaborated the recent events in the form of a film plot saying, “A LAWYER turned GANGSTER wants to take REVENGE for a DEER’S death by killing a SUPER STAR and as a WARNING orders some of his GANG of 700, which he recruited through Facebook, to first kill a BIG POLITICIAN who is a close friend of the STAR. The POLICE can’t catch him because he is under the protection of the GOVERNMENT in a JAIL and his spokesman speaks from ABROAD.”
He continued, “If a Bollywood writer came up with a story like this, they would be thrashed for writing the most unbelievable and ridiculous story ever.”
Reflecting further on the situation, Varma tweeted, “LAWRENCE BISHNOI was just a 5-YEAR-OLD KID when the deer was killed in 1998, and he maintained his grudge for 25 years. Now at age 30, he says that his LIFE’S GOAL is to kill SALMAN to take REVENGE for KILLING that DEER. Is this ANIMAL love at its PEAK, or GOD playing a WEIRD JOKE?”
The comments refer to the 1998
blackbuck poaching
case in Rajasthan, where Salman was accused of illegally hunting the protected animals. Bishnoi, whose community reveres the blackbuck, has reportedly held a grudge against the actor, issuing open threats over the past years. Early this year, a gunman believed to be associated with the Bishnoi gang, opened fire outside the actor’s building.
On the work front, Salman is currently busy with his projects ‘Bigg Boss 18’ and ‘Sikandar’.
