NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs (MEA) on Wednesday told China the necessity of respecting the
Line of Actual Control
(
LAC
) to restore normalcy in bilateral relations. The
MEA
said that both countries have agreed to maintain peace on the ground in line with existing agreements.
“They agreed on the need to jointly uphold peace and tranquility on the ground in the border areas in accordance with relevant bilateral agreements, protocols, and understandings reached between the two governments,” the MEA said in a statement.
The ministry further mentioned that the meeting was thorough and both sides committed to sustaining diplomatic efforts through established diplomatic and military channels.
“The talks were described as in-depth, constructive, and forward-looking. Both delegations agreed to sustain momentum through established diplomatic and military channels, ensuring ongoing dialogue and cooperation,” the statement added.
The meeting took place during the 30th session of the working mechanism for consultation and coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) in New Delhi on July 31.
