‘Ram, Vaam, Shyam have joined hands’: Mamata Banerjee

NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister

Mamata Banerjee

launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the recent

Sandeshkhali

violence, accusing the party of attempting to disrupt peace in the area and failing to take action against its own leaders.
Sandeshkhali has been seeing protests since Feb 7, mainly by women over alleged sexual harassment and high-handedness by aides of TMC strongman Sheikh Shahjahan, who has been absconding since January 5 when villagers wounded three ED officials during a search operation at his home.

During a public gathering in Birbhum, Mamata Banerjee assured the crowd that her government always takes prompt action against any wrongdoing. She further claimed that the BJP,

Left

, and

Congress

(Ram, Vaam, Shyam) were colluding against her in the state.
“We always take action in case of any wrong. First the ED, then the BJP, and then the media. They are trying to disrupt peace there [Sandeshkhali]. If there are any allegations, we will take action, and whatever was taken forcibly will be returned. I have asked the police to take suo motu cognizance. Our block president has been arrested. In Bhangar, Arabul Islam has also been arrested. But what action has the BJP taken against their leaders? Remember, the BJP is anti-Bengali, anti-women, anti-farmer, and anti-dalit,” she said.

“They are using ED and CBI to threaten us. If the Election Commission is working on BJP’s orders, keep this in mind that we have the right to fight and voice our opinion. Earlier, I had to face the torture of Left and now I have to face the torture of BJP. Ram-Vaam-Shyam [BJP, Left, Congress] have joined hands. They had joined hands a long time back. This is the same CPI(M) that used to play with deaths,” she added.
Mamata Banerjee also accused the BJP-led central government of “deactivating” Aadhaar cards of people in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She claimed that this was an attempt to prevent people from benefiting from various social welfare schemes offered by her government through their bank accounts.

“Beware, they (BJP-led Centre) are deactivating Aadhaar cards. Several Aadhar cards have been deactivated in many districts of Bengal. They (BJP-led Centre) are delinking Aadhaar cards so that before polls people do not get benefits of Lakshmi Bhandar through banks, free ration,” Mamata said.
In reference to the farmers’ agitation demanding a guarantee on minimum support price for their produce, the TMC supremo asserted that farmers in West Bengal do not face such problems.
