Jailer (2023)

Rajinikanth played the role of a retired cop with a violent past in Nelson’s action-comedy, which featured powerful cameos and mass elements. The biggie, shot on a budget of Rs 200 crore, grossed nearly Rs 600 crore globally and helped the mass hero continue his reign.

2.0 (2018)

The sci-fi thriller, a sequel to Enthiran, featured Rajini in a triple role and gave him ample scope to showcase his abilities. The film received favourable reviews and proved to be a game-changer for Tamil cinema. It earned Rs 800 crore worldwide to emerge as the highest-grossing Tamil film ever.

Enthiran (2010)

The S Shankar-helmed biggie centred on a humanoid robot who falls for his creator’s girlfriend. Rajinikanth hit it out of the park with his performance in the film and added another blockbuster to his name. Enthiran, shot on a budget of Rs 132 crore, grossed over Rs 300 crore at the box office and opened new avenues for Tamil cinema.

Sivaji (2007)

Rajinikanth was at his massiest best in Sivaji, a film about a common man who fights corruption. The film was shot on a budget of Rs 60 crore and earned Rs 100 crore worldwide during its run.

Chandramukhi(2005)

Rajinikanth, who suffered a setback when Baba (2002) bombed at the box office, bounced back in style with Chandramukhi. The psychological thriller was shot on a budget of Rs 19 crore and earned Rs 42 crore in India.

It also emerged as a blockbuster in Germany.
