'Pushpa 2' stampede incident: Three arrested in woman's death at Allu Arjun's film premiere

The much-anticipated premiere of Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s starrer ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ turned tragic on December 4 when a 35-year-old woman lost her life due to asphyxiation in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad. The police have now arrested three individuals, including the owner of Sandhya Theatre, the theatre manager, and the balcony supervisor.
In a recent video shared by ANI on its official Twitter handle, L. Ramesh Kumar, ACP Chikkadpally, was heard saying, “During the investigation today, we have arrested three people in connection with the incident. We arrested them and produced them before the court. The court has sent them to judicial custody… The child who was injured is recovering well in a positive manner…” The individuals have been presented in court and sent to judicial custody.

The accused were charged with negligence for failing to implement proper security measures. A case has been registered under Sections 105 and 118(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
The stampede occurred as a massive crowd gathered at the venue, far exceeding its capacity. The chaos led to the death of a 35-year-old woman and severe injuries to her 13-year-old son. Inadequate arrangements at the theatre for the premiere of the highly awaited film have been cited as a major cause of the disaster. A case was also filed against Allu Arjun and his security guards by the deceased’s family. The theatre owners stated that the actor and his team arrived without prior notice, which made the situation worse. However, the actor’s team denied the allegation, stating that they had confirmed with the theatre owners, and special arrangements were made for his arrival.
The actor recently shared his deep condolences by posting a video on Twitter and announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakhs for her family.
