THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/THRISSUR/MADURAI:
PM Narendra Modi
accused
CPM
on Monday of “looting the poor” and raised corruption charges against Kerala chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan
and his family. He also targeted
Congress
, saying the “yuvraj” of the grand old party, who could not protect his family’s seat in UP, had come to Kerala to seek votes.
In his speech at Kattakada (Attingal constituency) in Thiruvananthapuram, Modi said there were reports that the CM and his daughter had accepted funds from a company named CMRL.
“Scams have become rampant in Kerala. The CM is lying on the cooperative bank scams, in which the money of the poor and common man was looted. He claims that the money will be refunded, but he is also seeing to it that there is no investigation into it,” Modi said.
During his public meeting at Kunnamkulam (Alathur constituency) in Thrissur, Modi said he had initiated an ED probe into the Karuvannur cooperative bank scam and was now taking legal advice on how depositors’ money could be returned from the amounts seized by agencies.
“These individuals devise new corruption schemes to drain every rupee from the public coffers. The Karuvannur bank scam epitomises the Left’s looting, leaving everyone dismayed…,” Modi claimed. “As long as Modi is there, I am assuring you that every single penny of the poor will be refunded…,” he said. Modi alleged that it was due to this looting by CPM that the state had become bankrupt.
The PM also accused LDF govt of impeding the state’s progress. “They oppose the National Highways projects. Their ideology seems to be ‘nothing left and nothing right,’ leaving chaos in their wake. We’ve seen this in Bengal and Tripura and, sadly, Kerala is no exception,” he said.
