NEW DELHI:
Acharya Pramod Krishnam
, who has been expelled from
Congress
, has criticized the treatment of party leaders
Sachin Pilot
and
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra
, saying that sycophancy is needed to survive in the grand old party.
Krishnam, who had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Lucknow on a Congress ticket and lost, had recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration ceremony and criticized the Congress’ decision to skip the event.
Speaking to reporters at ‘Kalki Dham’ in Sambhal, Krishnam expressed his support for Prime Minister Modi, saying he will stand with him to strengthen the country.
Krishnam said, “Today, if one wants to remain in Congress, it requires manipulation, sycophancy, and lying.”
He also highlighted the alleged mistreatment of Sachin Pilot and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra within the party. Krishnam questioned why Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was not joining Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing yatra.
He further said, “Today Sachin Pilot is being
insulted
in Congress…he is swallowing poison like Lord Shiva. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is also being insulted.”
“Rahul Gandhi’s yatra is going on for several days…why is Priyanka Gandhi not joining, ask her,” he said.
Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal announced Krishnam’s expulsion from the party for a period of six years, citing indiscipline and repeated statements against the party.
Krishnam expressed his gratitude towards the Congress leadership for freeing him from the party but raised questions about the activities that were deemed anti-party.
