Mira’s glossy hair is thanks to an ayurvedic hair oil she prepares at home, here’s the recipe.

Ingredients

All you need is hibiscus, curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, coconut oil, amla or gooseberry powder, neem and moringa leaves.

How to make the oil

Take two hibiscus flowers and eight to nine hibiscus leaves, along with a little coconut oil. Now grind the two ingredients and create a smooth paste. The amino acids in hibiscus strengthen the hair.

Heat coconut oil

Take a pan and heat some coconut oil. Now add the hibiscus paste to it. The lauric acid in coconut oil prevents keratin loss in hair.

Add fenugreek seeds

Add a teaspoon of methi or fenugreek seeds to the oil mixture. Fenugreek has flavonoids which hair growth.

Next step in adding amla + curry leaves

Add one teaspoon of amla or gooseberry powder and some curry leaves. Amla and curry leaves together prevent premature greying of hair.

Neem + moringa leaves

Now add some neem and moringa leaves to the oil. Neem’s anti-bacterial properties improve scalp health and moringa is best for hair as it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Boil the oil and strain

Boil the oil mixture, take it off the heat and cool down. Now strain the mixture and store it in a glass jar or bottle. Apply the oil before shampooing your hair.
