Mahima Chaudhry reveals her parents found out about her cancer through Anupam Kher's emotional video: 'I took my courage from Sanjay Dutt'

Mahima Chaudhry, who was diagnosed with

breast cancer

in 2022, recently shared how her parents found out about her illness through Anupam Kher‘s emotional video. Though she hadn’t told them herself,

Anupam

unexpectedly posted a video about her

cancer journey

on Instagram.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mahima recalled that the video was shot while she was working on a publicity shoot for a film.

She explained that during a casual video shoot with Anupam Kher, she began speaking spontaneously. Impressed with the natural flow of the conversation, Anupam showed the video to her sister, who encouraged him to upload it.
At the time, Mahima hadn’t informed her parents about her

cancer diagnosis

. Her father eventually discovered the news through Google after watching the video. Mahima’s daughter called to inform her that her grandfather was watching the story, which left Mahima surprised, as she had intended to personally explain the situation to him before the video went viral.

Shocking! Mahima Chaudhry breaks down as she reveals about her breast cancer diagnosis, Anupam Kher calls her ‘HERO’

Reflecting on her battle, Mahima revealed that she drew strength from the stories of others, including Sanjay Dutt’s fight with cancer. She also mentioned how Angelina Jolie‘s decision to undergo preventive surgery inspired her to stay strong during her treatment.
“I took my courage from other people’s stories. I took my courage from Sanjay Dutt. The way he dealt with it in the fourth stage, walking around, shooting a film, and here I was walking like… I was like what’s wrong with me? I’ve to keep going, Angelina Jolie just walks into the doctor, saying you know I want to care of this. I’m more likely to get breast cancer, and uterine cancer, take out all of these organs, and I am done with my children. Like it takes courage, you know she has those BRCA1 genes. So when the doctor was telling me I was like I don’t want to get rid of anything. You know I got my courage from there,” she said.

On the work front, Mahima is awaiting the release of her upcoming films Emergency and Signature.
