NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh minister
Sanjay Singh Gangwar
has claimed on Sunday that lying in a
cowshed
and cleaning it can cure cancer.
He also said that stroking the back of a cow can help lower
blood pressure
. Gangwar made these remarks at the inauguration of the
Kanha gaushala
in Nougawa Pakadiya, which cost Rs 55 lakh to build.
Gangwar explained, “If there is a blood pressure patient, there are cows here.
The person should stroke a cow on its back every morning and evening and serve it. If the person is taking a 20mg dose of blood pressure medicine, it will come down to 10 mg within 10 days.”
Regarding cancer, he added, “If a cancer patient starts cleaning a cowshed and lying there, even cancer can be cured. If you burn
cow dung
cakes, you get relief from mosquitoes. Everything that a cow produces is useful in some way.”
The minister also commented on the issue of stray cattle, saying, “We are not serving our mother, so the mother is harming us somewhere.” He urged Muslims to celebrate Eid at the cowshed, suggesting that Eid delicacies be made with cow’s milk.
The newly inaugurated gaushala includes provisions for fodder, medicine, and shelter for destitute cows. Gangwar called on people to connect with the gaushalas and consider celebrating personal events, such as wedding anniversaries and children’s birthdays, by donating fodder.
Gangwar has a varied political history, having contested the 2012 assembly election with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), later joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and winning seats in 2017 and 2022 from Pilibhit. He is known for his controversial remarks and criticisms of former BJP MP Varun Gandhi.
