NEW DELHI: India’s left-arm spin sensation
Kuldeep Yadav
on Wednesday penned a heartfelt note for legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne‘s birthday, remembering his friend on this special day.
The spinner had spent a considerable period of time chatting with the late Aussie great during India’s 2018-19
Australia
tour, and later revealed that Warne had given him a pep talk.
Taking to ‘X’, formerly Twitter, Kuldeep expressed his feelings by sharing a throwback picture with the former Australian leggie, who would have turned 54 today: “Remembering my friend, Shane Warne, on his special day. Your legacy lives on, both in the cricketing world and in the hearts of those who knew you. Wishing you a heavenly birthday, Warney.”
Meanwhile, Kuldeep has emerged as a standout performer for India in the recent two
Asia Cup matches, showcasing exceptional form by securing nine wickets in just two appearances. The Chinaman spinner wreaked havoc in particular against Pakistan, where he claimed a five-wicket haul.
Born in 1969, Warne’s illustrious career spanned from 1992 to 2007, during which the spin wizard dominated the world of cricket like few others. Prior to his retirement, the Australian magician had amassed a staggering 708 wickets, a record that remained unbroken until 2007.
Following his retirement from international cricket, the former Australian captain continued to shine in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). His exceptional skills and leadership were instrumental in guiding Rajasthan Royals to victory in the inaugural edition of the cash-rich league.
