Konkona Sen Sharma feels there is a lot of ‘self-censorship’ about religious sentiments in the country; says ‘Never know when an FIR will come’
Derived from a tale by Kamal Kumar Majumdar, ‘Sati’ narrates the tale of Uma, portrayed by Shabana, who, being mute, is wedded to a banyan tree due to her ominous ‘kundli’ prediction of her husband’s demise. Aparna Sen’s exploration delves into the feminist angle, highlighting the prospect of Uma enduring sati in 1828 if her husband perishes. Alongside Shabana and Konkona, Arun Banerjee also featured in the film.
Konkona will soon appear in ‘
Metro…In Dino
,’ whereas Shabana is set to star in ‘Bun Tikki.’
