Bandipora
district on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Vipin Batya, 40, of 14 Rashtriya Rifles and the injured as Yogesh, 37.
The jawan whose gun allegedly went off in the camp, located in Bandipora’s Bapora area, has been detained,
Bandipora police
said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Police sources said they suspected an altercation.
“There has been an accidental discharge of weapon, resulting in a casualty and injury to army personnel. Accused army personnel detained. Necessary legal action initiated,” a police post stated.
The episode comes at a time operations are on for over four days in
