PUNE: The
Juvenile Justice Board
(JJB) on Tuesday asked
Pune police
to file its response to a plea seeking the release of the
Porsche Taycan
involved in the May 19
crash
when it ran over two techies while being driven by a
minor
.
The car has been seized by police. A representative of the firm in whose name the high-end car was bought has filed the plea, a senior officer said.
He added the cops would oppose the car’s release as the probe was still on.
The company is headed by a prominent
city builder
whose 17-year-old son was behind the wheel.
The underage driver is now in custody of his paternal aunt after the Bombay HC ordered his release from an observation home. His father and mother are lodged in jail on charges of manipulating their son’s blood alcohol test.
The JJB also deferred till September 28 hearing on Pune police’s plea seeking the underage driver’s trial as an adult.
“JJB is yet to receive the minor’s psychiatric assessment and deaddiction reports besides a regional transport office report regarding compliance of the conditions that were put forth at the time of granting him bail on May 19,” the senior officer said.
