Though the actor did gain some weight for the character, popular prosthetics makeup artist Adrien Morot was given the task of transforming the actor for the role.

6 hours of makeup
According to Morot, it took him six hours of makeup and preparation to get Fraser ready with all the prosthetics.

Prosthetics weighed 300 pounds
Believe it or not, the prosthetics alone weighed up to 300 pounds and it was extremely difficult to put them on.

He needed 5 bags of ice to keep cool
As per reports, the actor needed as many as five bags of ice per day to stay cool as the prosthetic suit was so hot.

According to an interview Morot gave to Variety, the actor had to wear a cooling suit similar to what race car drivers wear, just to keep cool.

Fraser wore it for 45 days
Since the movie was shot over 45 days, the actor had to bear the prosthetic makeup for all 45 days.
