As the Indian Premier League season approaches, various events are happening across all franchises, including team building exercises and practice sessions, but some players will miss the season due to various reasons.

IPL 2024: List of injured, unavailable players and their replacements

NEW DELHI: There are several events taking place in all the franchises as the Indian Premier League season approaches, such as team building exercises and practice sessions. Amidst all of this, a few players are going to miss out the season for a variety of reasons.
Following are the list of players unavailable for the upcoming season and their replacements:

Gujarat Titans

  • Mohammed Shami, the top wicket-taker of the 2023 IPL season, has been ruled out of IPL 2024 due to an ankle injury sustained during the 2023 ODI World Cup. He underwent surgery in London, and Gujarat Titans are yet to announce a replacement.
  • Matthew Wade, the Australian wicketkeeper, will miss the Titans’ initial game on March 25 and might sit out the second match on March 27 as well. Wade opted to participate in the Sheffield Shield final for Tasmania from March 21 to 25.

Lucknow Super Giants

  • Mark Wood has been withdrawn from the IPL by the ECB to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup and England’s home summer. West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph has been named as his replacement.

Rajasthan Royals

  • Prasidh Krishna, the Indian fast bowler, is out of action for a second consecutive IPL season due to surgery on his quadriceps tendon, which he injured during the Ranji Trophy. Rajasthan Royals have not announced a replacement.

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • Jason Roy, the England opener, has withdrawn from IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. He has been replaced by England’s Phil Salt, who is currently ranked second in the T20I rankings.
  • Gus Atkinson, the England fast bowler, opted out of his debut IPL season to manage his workload. Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera has been named as his replacement.

Chennai Super Kings

  • Devon Conway, the New Zealand batter, recently underwent thumb surgery and is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks. Chennai Super Kings have not yet designated a replacement for him.
