.
Reuniting with Bhansali after their collaboration on ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was a dream come true, Indresh Malik told The Free Press Journal.
He spoke highly of Bhansali’s genius, recalling the joy and pride the cast felt whenever Bhansali approved of their scenes. One memorable moment for Malik was when Bhansali rewarded him with Rs 500 for a scene where Fareedan, played by
Sonakshi Sinha
, adorns him with a nath (nose ring). “It was like a reward from a teacher to his student,” Indresh Malik reminisced, highlighting the respect and admiration he holds for the director.

Indresh Malik confidently predicted a bright future for Segal, acknowledging that even masterpieces can be initially misunderstood or rejected by the masses. “Everybody has the right to criticise,” he stated, adding that it’s all about maintaining a positive state of mind amidst criticism.
Indresh Malik also addressed those pointing out perceived flaws in ‘Heeramandi,’ asserting that the series is a realization of Bhansali’s unique vision. “It’s a vision and nobody promised you that this is going to be this. It’s Bhansali’s vision. He wants to portray things as per his vision,” Malik explained. He emphasized the enjoyment and success the series has achieved, indicating that debates over realism versus artistic interpretation are part of the broader discourse on cinematic art.
