IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai receives bomb threat

IndiGo

aircraft operating a flight from Chennai to Mumbai received a

bomb threat

on Tuesday morning.
“IndiGo flight 6E-5188 was less than 40 kms away from

landing

in Mumbai when the pilots informed the air traffic control about a bomb threat message found in one of the

aircraft

lavatories,” said a source. The A321 neo aircraft landed safely at 8.47 am.

“Since it was a specific alert the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad handled the aircraft. No bomb was found on board,” the source added.
IndiGo in a statement said that flight 6E 5188 operating from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat post landing in Mumbai. “All necessary protocols were followed and the aircraft was taken to a remote bay as per guidelines by airport security agencies. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back to the terminal area,” the airline said.
A senior Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) official said that the procedures pertaining to bomb threat alert have been initiated.
