How ‘obsession’ led Hyd woman to stalk, kidnap TV anchor

HYDERABAD: Uppal police apprehended a 31-year-old businesswoman along with her four accomplices for their alleged involvement in cyber stalking and kidnapping of a man. The accused, B Trishna, who specialises in digital marketing, is a resident of Madhapur.
According to police, Trishna found out that Chaitanya Reddy, with whom she had interacted on a matrimonial website two years ago, had another person Pranav’s photograph as his matrimony profile picture. She was seething with rage that Chaitanya had deceived her. Upon discovering that Pranav was the ‘victim’ in this impersonation case, Trishna reached out to him on WhatsApp. However, he had already lodged a complaint with cyber crime police station.
Despite being told, Trishna was persistenly messaging Pranav, with the latter blocking her number. She could not digest this. She hired an employee from her office offering him a sum of Rs 50,000 for kidnapping Pranav. Trishna along with four others took away Pranav from near a private college in the early hours of Feb 11.
They took him to Trishna’s office, where he was physically assaulted. However, Pranav managed to convince Trishna to release him, assuring her that he would ‘cooperate’ with her. With Pranav approaching police, a case was registered and the accused were arrested on Thursday.

Trishna’s actions were driven by ‘

obsession

and desire for intimacy’, police said. An iPhone Pro Max-15 from Trishna was recovered. An Apple AirTag was also recovered from Pranav’s car, which had been used to track his movements, police said.
