George Clooney SLAMMED for asking Joe Biden to step down ahead of Presidential race against Donald Trump

Actor George Clooney is facing social media backlash after Donald Trump clinched victory against Kamala Harris to be elected as the 47th President of the United States.
The actor famously called for Joe Biden to step down from the presidential race, in a New York Times op-ed titled “I Love Joe Biden, but We Need a New Nominee.”

Biden later announced his decision to step down, leading to Vice President Kamala Harris taking his place as the Democratic nominee. In response, Clooney downplayed his influence on the former president’s decision and said, “The bottom line is that it’s very hard to let go of power, and President Biden did something really extraordinary… And honestly, I do think that’s what should be focused on.”

However, after a fiercely contested election season, Donald Trump ultimately emerged victorious on Tuesday, securing his position as the US president-elect with a strong lead of 295 electoral votes and winning the popular vote.
Many social media users took to X to react with some blaming Clooney’s involvement in politics “Someone bring me George Clooney. We need to have a… talk,” wrote one user. Another commented, “I blame George Clooney; he said no more money… and now look…”

Trump supporters on the other hand, trolled the actor and even remarked, “Trump should not forget to thank Hollywood celebrities. Especially George Clooney.”

Trump previously came down heavily on Clooney, calling him a “fake movie actor” and urging him to “get out of politics and go back to television.”
Clooney responded to his comment on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying, “I will if he does. That’s a trade-off I’d do.”
