02/8Lord Hanuman and immortality
One of the most fascinating traits of Lord Hanuman is his immortality. According to Hindu scriptures, Hanuman ji is one of the seven Chiranjivis (immortals), which means he is blessed with eternal life and will live until the end of the current age, known as Kali Yuga. The boon of immortality was given to him for his devotion and service to Lord Ram and to keep watch on the world after Lord Ram went back to Devlok.
03/8People mis-chant Hanuman Chalisa
The Hanuman Chalisa was written by Tulsidas ji and is a very old text. Unfortunately, a lot of people chant the Chalisa wrong. The most famous mistake is saying ‘Tulsidas sada hari chera’, while instead people should say their name instead of Tulsidas’s name. The phrase means that Lord Hanuman will forever stay in Tulsidas ji’s heart, and when chanting the man or woman should say their name to reflect that Lord Hanuman will always stay in their heart.

According to many legends, tales and scriptures, Hanuman ji still lives on Earth. In fact, he lives not in one place but many!
According to scriptures, Lord Hanuman lives and meditates on the Gandhamadan Mountains which are said to be near to Mount Kailash but havent been found. And second, Lord Hanuman lives where the name of Lord Ram is chanted. It is said that he continues to meditate and perform his duties from different places, and is ready to help those who call upon him with pure devotion.
05/8Hanuman Chalisa and the different attributes
The Hanuman Chalisa is composed in such a way that it describes the different traits, qualities, and attributes of Lord Hanuman in its different verse. For example, it tells people of his strength by mentioning him as ‘Mahaveer’ or the great hero, his form of removing hurdles is described as ‘Sankat Mochan’, this quality of being in devotion to Lord Ram is described with ‘Ram Lakhan Sita man basiya’, etc.

A unique trait of Lord Hanuman is that you do not have to sit for years and years for him to notice you or come to your help. Devotees of Lord Hanuman do not have to meditate for ages just to get his glimpse, rather, they just have to be true to their heart and devotion. It is said that one of the reasons Lord Ram gave him immortality was so that he could solve people’s worries and problems when Lord Ram could not. And as he lives close to Earth as an immortal, he answers the cry for help really quickly.

One of the most famous and chanted verses from the Hanuman Chalisa is – ‘Bhoot Pisaach Nikat Nahi Aave, Mahavir Jab Naam Sunave’. An extremely simple verse, it translates to ‘Evil spirits and ghosts do not come near to the person who chants Lord Hanuman’s name’. This verse is like evidence of Hanuman ji’s power to ward off negative energies and entities and is recited especially when people feel alone, scared, or fear something.
08/8Where there is Ram naam, there is Hanuman
A very famous saying goes ‘Jahan Ram naam, wahan Hanuman’, which simply means that wherever someone is reciting the name of Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman will hear it and immediately reach that place. Such is the devotion of Lord Hanuman for Lord Ram that he is eager to see every devotee of Lord Ram, for he too is one of them. Devotees also often chant both the names of Ram and Hanuman together to ask for their combined blessings and protection.
