While many people think that they speak English just like native speakers owing to how long they have been practising, sometimes it is far from true! Here we mention 10 words that will make you sound like a native.

Torrential refers to something that is extremely heavy or intense, and is used to describe ‘heavy rains’. Only native speakers use ‘torrential’ and the rest just go with words like ‘heavy’ or violent rain’. For example, ‘Torrential rains caused flooding in the city’.

‘Dulcet’ refers to sounds that are sweet and soothing to the ear. For example, ‘Mina’s dulcet voice puts the baby to sleep within minutes’.

Something that is ‘Primordial’ has been in existence from the beginning of time. To use it in a sentence, just say ‘Scientists have always tried to discern the primordial signs of life on Earth’.

Something that is ‘Ineffable’ is too great or extreme to be put clearly in words. For example, ‘The beauty of Amravati sunsets is truly ineffable’.

An impediment is a hindrance or obstruction in doing something. For example, ‘His speech impediment hindered his public speaking progress and oration’.
