Watch: Underprivileged children create stunning bridal wear inspired by Sabyasachi, force elusive designer to react

A heartwarming video shared on Instagram by a Lucknow-based NGO has captured the attention of fashion lovers and the design community alike. The video features a group of underprivileged children who, under the guidance of the non-profit organization Innovation for Change, designed and modeled bridal wear inspired by the iconic creations of Sabyasachi (Mukherjee).

In the footage, the young designers proudly showcase their handmade creations, posing confidently in front of the camera. The dresses are made from donated clothing collected by the children from their local community, demonstrating their incredible creativity and resourcefulness. The NGO explained, “We are a Lucknow-based NGO working with over 400 slum children, providing them free education. These dresses were designed by our students, all of whom come from extremely poor backgrounds. They used donated clothes from locals and neighborhood charity to create their designs after watching a Sabyasachi bridal video.”

What makes this project even more impressive is that the video was shot by 15-year-old aspiring filmmakers who are honing their craft with the support of the NGO. Their hard work and dedication are evident in the professional quality of the video, which quickly went viral, capturing the attention of none other than Sabyasachi himself. The celebrated designer reacted with a heart emoji in the comments section and even reshared the video on his own Instagram, showing his appreciation for the children’s talent.

The grand wedding celebrations are scheduled from July 12 to July 14

The video has sparked a wave of admiration from viewers, with many praising the kids for their creativity and spirit. One Instagram user commented, “More power to these kids… lots of love and blessings.” Another wrote, “Seeing such a beautiful portrayal of Indian bridal beauty reminds me that elegance and grace aren’t defined by a Sabyasachi or Manish Malhotra label. It’s about the authenticity and spirit that each person brings. Hats off to everyone involved for showcasing the true essence of Indian beauty.”

One more commenter highlighted the impact of this initiative on the children’s futures, stating, “All I see is that making these teens models gives them dreams. This exposure is innovative. And the clothes look amazing on anyone who wears them. So it’s great.”
This inspiring project not only highlights the power of creativity and education but also reinforces how fashion can transcend barriers of class, caste, and privilege, celebrating talent in all its forms.
