The IMD has stated that “the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 45 degrees Celsius,” indicating that the city will face an uncomfortably hot day, with temperatures soaring well above normal levels.

A ‘red’ alert for Sunday and an ‘orange’ alert for Delhi from May 20 to 22 was issued by IMD on Saturday.
IMD declares a heatwave when maximum temperature reaches or surpasses 45°C. Additionally, a day is considered a heatwave day when the maximum temperature is at least 40°C and exceeds the normal temperature by 4.5 degrees or more.
