JAMMU:
BSF
troops shot down a suspected Pakistani
drone
flying close to the
LoC
in J&K’s
Poonch district
late Tuesday, making this the second such instance along the international border in less than three weeks.
Official sources said the border guards fired several rounds after suspected drone activity was reported from across the LoC in Khanetar garrison.
BSF cordoned off the area immediately and a search operation was launched to sanitize the area as the troops suspected the drone could have dropped arms and ammunition.
On May 10, BSF troops opened fire at a Pakistani drone near the international border in J&K’s Samba district, forcing the flying object to retreat to the Pakistani side.
On February 29, Samba SSP Vinay Kumar and BSF IG (Jammu frontier) D K Boora presented Bhagwan Dass, a civilian, with a cheque for Rs 3 Lakh and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for alerting security forces about a drone flying over his fields in January.
