BMCM mints only Rs 55 lakh in South languages

Published:

There has been a growing trend of actors crossing the regional lines to do something new and the movie market has been expanding like never before.
For example

Kareena Kapoor

Khan is reported to join Yash in Toxic and Sai Pallavi along with Yash will be seen in Nitish Tiwari’s Ramayan. But at times the results are not as expected and one such example is Vashu Bhagnani’s

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

which had South Superstar

Prithviraj

in the lead.

Prithviraj’s name does add a credible weight to a film but in this case, the film was a non-starter in south languages.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which had names like

Akshay Kumar

and

Tiger Shroff

in the lead, couldn’t connect with the masses in a big way, not only in Hindi but also in southern languages. But as far as Hindi is concerned, the film has crossed Rs 45 crore mark but when it comes to Southern languages (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam) the film has had tough luck. In its first six days at the box office ( the film released on Thursday,11th April on the occasion of Eid), the film has minted just Rs 55 lakhs in these four languages of which Tamil has been the best performer with Rs 29 lakhs followed by Telegu with Rs 24 lakhs as reported by Sacnilk.

In the past few months Prithviraj has delivered some amazing box office results, be it Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire with over Rs 400 crore collection or Aadujeevitham- The Goat Life with Rs 76 crore collection. Post Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Prithviraj has a couple of more Hindi films lined up, one being Sarzameen with

Saif Ali Khan

’s son Ibrahim and Kajol.
