If you are taking any supplements, you need to be mindful of what time of the day you are consuming them.


​Why does it matter?​

“Every supplement needs a different environment to be absorbed so that it can do its work in your body,” explains nutritionist Neha Ranglani on Instagram.


​Empty stomach​

Supplements like probiotics, vitamin C, B12, folate, L-glutamine and iron are well absorbed on an empty stomach, and are therefore most effective.


​Best taken after food​

Vitamin A, D, E, K need fat for digestion and absorption. So they should be consumed after eating food.


​Mineral that need stomach acid​

Calcium and zinc need stomach acid for digestion and absorption, so make sure you consume them after a meal.


​After breakfast​

B complex is best taken after breakfast, as it is meant to give you energy. So, you will be energetic the entire day.

​After lunch​

Omega 3 is best taken after lunch “because it is a little heavier supplement to be digested, and our digestive fire is at a peak at that time,” the nutritionist explains.

Magnesium is best taken after dinner as it helps you to sleep well in a calm state of mind.
