After his spy thriller ‘Citadel’ which released on OTT, Varun Dhawan will be back on the big screen after a while. The actor will be seen in ‘
Baby John
‘ which is touted as this mass entertainer. It’s also been made by a creative team from the south, hence, it has that mass-entertainer vibe which was also evident from the trailer. The film is produced by Atlee who directed ‘Jawan’ along with Murad Khetani, and directed by Kalees. It sees Varun along with Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi.
‘Baby John’ is releasing across the country in about 3000 screens. But the makers will obviously have a tough time convincing theatres to give the film proper shows and cut down on the shows of ‘
Pushpa 2
‘ which is still running so well. The weekend shows of ‘Pushpa 2’ are going houseful while the occupancy on week days is still around 60-70 percent. In this scenario, ‘Baby John’ will have to make space for itself. More so, since ‘Baby John’ is releasing on Christmas, even ‘Pushpa 2’ makers would not want to cut down on the number of shows, as it will bring a big revenue to the film still.
The
advance bookings
of ‘Pushpa 2’ was stopped for a bit as there were negotiations happening between PVR Inox and the distributors. They are now open, but according to Pinkvilla, the final decision will happen over the weekend. As of now, ‘Baby John’ is targeting to sell at least 80,000 tickets in the National chains. This will lead to a decent opening of around Rs 15 crore on Day 1 which is Christmas. This is a big holiday which nobody would want to miss out on. Moreover, the upcoming week post Christmas, up till the New Year, will also be crucial for both the movies as it’s the holiday period which has the capacity to bring in maximum footfalls in cinemas.
