Air India passenger arrested for smoking in lavatory

MUMBAI: A resident of Rajasthan,

Arjun Thalore

(34), was caught smoking inside the

lavatory

on an

Air India

flight travelling from Jaipur to Mumbai on a Saturday. The

onboard crew

observed smoke ash inside the lavatory after Arjun Thalore (34) exited, and they handed him over to the airport security officials upon landing at Mumbai airport. Subsequently, he was arrested by the Sahar police.
The associate security official for Air India, Om Deshmukh (28), the flight that took off from Jaipur at 6.21 pm had no smoking logo highlighted near the lavatory zone.

“The flyers onboard were alerted by the cabin crew not to smoke. Despite the warning, Thalore entered the lavatory when the flight was mid-air and smoked,” said a police officer of the Sahar police station.
It was noticed by the cabin crew, Kajol Gagh, after an alarm beeped soon after Thalore smoked inside the lavatory. He was handed over to the Sahar police after the flight landed in Mumbai. He has been booked under the

Indian Penal Code

section 336 (endangering lives) and under the Aircraft Rules.
Thalore is the third flyer caught in since May 8 for smoking onboard.
