NEW DELHI: Amid the chaotic Parliament day, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress went to the police station to lodge complaints against each other over the scuffle.
The incident occurred on Thursday when MPs from the INDIA bloc and BJP faced off outside Parliament’s Makar Dwar. It turned into high-voltage drama after BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing an MP, causing an injury. At the same time, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that he was pushed by BJP MPs, causing a knee injury.
Both the parties, BJP and Congress, went to the police station to complain against each other. BJP filed a complaint with Delhi police station against Rahul Gandhi for assault and incitement. There were 6 sections filed including Section 109- an attempt to murder and Section 117 -crime of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
“We have mentioned in detail the incident that happened today outside Makar Dwar, where NDA MPs were protesting peacefully… We have given a complaint under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131 and 351,” BJP MP Anurag Thakur said as quoted by ANI.
Here is the FIR:
“We have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for physical assault and incitement. In the complaint, we have described in detail the incident which took place at Makar Dwar where NDA MPs were trying to expose the Congress’ propaganda. When security forces asked Rahul Gandhi and other INDI bloc MPs to take a designated path to enter Parliament, he expressed his anger and did not take that designated path. He started walking towards where NDA MPs were protesting,” PTI quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, Congress filed a complaint alleging BJP leaders misbehaved with its chief Mallikarjun Kharge, an officer said.
Talking about the complaint, Congress alleged that the BJP MPs have misbehaved with the party chief Kharge.
“Today, MPs of INDIA Alliance were protesting in the Parliament premises against the insult of Babasaheb. When the INDIA alliance MPs reached Makar Dwar, the BJP MPs already present there pushed and misbehaved with the Congress President Mr. @kharge and the Leader of the Opposition Mr. @RahulGandhi,” the Congress said in a post on X.
“During this, Congress President Shri Kharge also got injured. Today, against this hooliganism of BJP, Congress MPs lodged a complaint in
