Tamannaah Bhatia made her South cinema debut with the
Telugu
film ‘Sree’ in 2005, and her journey in the South made her popular as the ‘girl next door’ figure for fans and audiences. Her films in both Telugu and Tamil became box office successes. However, while doing commercially successful movies, Tamannaah was craving different and challenging roles. In a recent interview, the ‘Baahubali‘ actress revealed how the success of the SS Rajamouli directorial became a significant turning point in her career.
In an interview with Indian Express, Tamannaah shared that she was working with senior stars and didn’t know the language during her early days in the South. But it was one of her biggest learnings. She gradually understood the culture and mockingly stated that now she can speak both Tamil and Telugu fluently.
Tamannaah Bhatia on hitting 30: ‘You want to make new mistakes, but definitely not the old ones’
The real hustle started when she had back-to-back commercial successes in both Tamil and Telugu. Despite having huge box office success, she was hungry for roles where she could perform. “When an actor is doing commercially well, there is a notion that moving away from it and experimenting with roles is unnecessary. But my funda was hatke,” Tamannaah Bhatia shared.
She admitted that ‘Baahubali’ changed everything for her. The movie became a game-changer in the industry as it introduced the concept of ‘pan-Indian’ to everyone. But in contrast, the movie broadened Tamannaah’s perspective. “How do you do something bigger than ‘Baahubali’? What should I do next? Do I do something bigger? Or do I reinvent?” Tamannaah shared that these mountains of thoughts were popping up in her head.
She believes that she is starting a new phase with *Sikandar Ka Muqaddar*, where she will play a role her audience has never seen her in before. ‘
