Vijay Varma
has worked with
Amitabh Bachchan
in ‘
Pink
‘ which also starred
Taapsee Pannu
, Kirti Kulhari among others. It was from this film where Vijay started his journey to play those ‘bad guy’ roles. Vijay who is now getting a lot of love for his different portrayals has come a long way since ‘Pink’. In a recent interview, Varma has spoken about the experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan.
Talking about the
legendary
actor, Vijay revealed what makes Bachchan so special.
On a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Vijay said, “He has created a system for himself where he’s able to be his best professional self and his best personal self. His on-set behaviour is impeccable. His work ethics make you feel like he’s trying to do his best; and he will put in every effort to do his best. He’s extremely supportive, extremely collaborative. He stays on set, regardless of whether it’s his shot or not. He pulls up a chair and watches others work.”
He further added how despite being in the industry for so many years, Big B is so involved in the process of film-maker and loves to gauge it all in like a child. “His off-set behaviour, how to interact with others, how he makes everybody feel seen on the set… He takes his time, but he says hello to everybody. He takes an hour to greet everybody. He doesn’t address the room; he doesn’t wave at everyone as a group. He makes sure he gives time to each individual on set. It’s very beautiful, it’s very special,” expressed Vijay.
Earlier during an interview with ETimes, Vijay had revealed, “I was shooting in Lucknow for Mirzapur and asked Shoojit sir (Sircar, director of Gulabo Sitabo) if I could come along. I was shocked when I reached the set to realise that Mr Bachchan had kept a track of the work I was doing. He even knew the ads I had done. It was simply amazing. He has really invested in my work. He is not an icon without reason.”
Vijay was last seen in ‘Murder Mubarak’. He will be seen next in ‘Ul Jalool Ishq’ co-starring Fatima Sana Sheikh.
