The saree has a history that dates back more than 3000 years and was originally worn by Hindu women in ancient India. The long piece of fabric draped in the most elegant manner around the body holds an emotional touch in Indian culture. Let’s take a look at some popular Indian traditional heritage sarees that should have a place in your ethnic closet.

Kanjveeram silk saree

The Kanjeevaram silk saree from the state of Tamil Nadu is made of pure silk and is intricately woven with gold and silver threads, making it look rich and luxurious. It was originally worn by the royals and has a long history.

Banarasi silk saree

The Banarasi silk saree is a symbol of our traditional Indian culture and is usually made of silk, tussar, and georgette. Draped in many ways, the beautiful embroidery with motifs of flora and fauna should be mandatory in your traditional wardrobe.

Chikankari saree

Nauvari saree

Taant saree

Originating from West Bengal and usually worn by Bengali women, they are made from cotton thread, which makes them light, transparent, and comfortable. The earliest records of weaving sarees in Bengal date back to the 15th century in Shantipur; however, the art eventually flourished during the time of the Mughals.
