SRINAGAR: A joint team of
security forces
arrested three
terror associates
in south Kashmir’s
Anantnag
district Monday and seized a cache of arms and
ammunition
— including an Improvised Explosive Device (
IED
) — from them,
police
said.
The trio — Dawood Ahmad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, and Shahid Ahmad Dar, all residents of Hassanpora Tavela — was intercepted during a naka checking operation at Hassanpora Tulkhan Road by the team of Army’s 1RR, CRPF’s 90Bn and Anantnag Police.
A pistol, one pistol magazine, eight pistol rounds, a grenade and an IED were recovered from the suspects, a police spokesperson said.
Bijbehara Police booked the three under relevant sections of the law, including the Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act, and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and launched a probe, the spokesperson said.
In a statement, police said the joint operation underscored the concerted efforts of security forces in combating terrorism and ensuring public safety. The arrest of the trio and seizure of arms and ammunition would significantly disrupt plans of anti-national elements in the district.
