2 Japanese navy helicopters carrying 8 crew believed crashed in Pacific

NEW DELHI: Two SH-60K helicopters belonging to the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) are believed to have crashed during night-time training.

‘s defense minister, Minoru Kihara, confirmed the incident, saying that the helicopters lost contact late Saturday near Torishima island in the Pacific south of Tokyo.
Each

helicopter

was carrying four crew members, totaling eight personnel.

As of the latest reports, one crew member has been recovered from the waters, but their condition remains unknown. Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the remaining seven crew members.
The cause of the

crash
